Kater loves Peter Pan. I’m not talking about a passing “oh yea, that was a fun Disney movie” – I’m talking the child is enthralled with the boy! She has a copy of the complete book that she reads in bed every night… and I just found the unabridged story on CD for her. She leaves him notes under the big oak in the yard. She asks serious questions about weather he ever would grow up or if it simply would make him not be Peter Pan if that was an option. And she dreams of playing Pirates. She’s been working on a pirate-girl costume for weeks… pinning fabric to the dummy, rearranging it, taking away, adding…
She doesn’t know it, but I’m about to go sew the thing together for her so she can finally wear it and hunt for treasure.
